About Ocean

Ocean Tavares is a Toronto-based young actor with a distinctive natural look, long, big curls, and an easy, unforced presence. He is kind, focused, and endlessly curious, takes direction and adjustments in stride, and is a reliable presence on set.

He most recently played the lead role of Simba in Disney's The Lion King JR., and will next appear in Annie JR. He trains in voice with Louisa Burgess-Corbett and in hip hop with Tash Jean-Bart. A natural performer, he sings, raps, dances, surfs, and beatboxes, and is teaching himself guitar, keyboard, and DJing on the side.

Off stage, Ocean founded his own nonprofit, Ocean's Water, at age four. He has led 23 shoreline cleanups, won the Ocean Wise Conservation Volunteer Award, and was named the inaugural Ocean Wise Junior Shoreline Ambassador in 2023, the first and only youth to hold the role. His work has been featured by CBC, CityTV, and CP24. He brings that same leadership, poise, and sense of purpose to every role.  More at oceanswater.org
